Candidates for Plastic Surgery

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that can help a patient achieve a more symmetrical facial profile. During this 1-3 hour-long procedure, a surgeon reshapes the nose by performing either the open rhinoplasty or the close rhinoplasty. During the latter procedure, the incision is made within the nose. Closed rhinoplasty is used for relatively minor nose reshaping. For major nose reshaping, open rhinoplasty is performed whereby the incision is made in the skin between the nostrils called the columella. After rhinoplasty surgery, patients wear an external splint for 6-8 days in order to help the nose keep its new shape. Patients may also be asked to elevate their head for 24 hours after surgery. All of the featured surgeons have extensive experience performing rhinoplasty, and many of them also specialize in secondary, or revision rhinoplasty. This surgery is used to correct unsatisfactory results from rhinoplasty performed elsewhere. If considering plastic surgery, it is best to first consult board-certified plastic surgeons as they have the most experience and training in their field.
